the reason for和the reason of的區別為：意思不同、用法不同、後接成分不同。
一、意思不同
1、the reason for：為了...原因。
2、the reason of：...原因。
二、用法不同
1、the reason for：reason用於事情可指「理由，原因，道理，情理」，用於人可指「理智，理性，思維能力，推理能力」。reason後常可接動詞不定式或for引導的短語或從句作定語，引導從句的why在口語中常省略。
2、the reason of：reason的基本意思是根據事實作出判斷或推理,強調連續的邏輯思考，以某個假設的前提、某個確定的數據或證據開始，作出推論。引申可指「爭辯」。
三、後接成分不同
1、the reason for：常用固定搭配，後面可加動名詞或代詞。
2、the reason of：後面加的是名詞或名詞短語。
